Today was a beautiful day with family and friends.
It was pleasant and peaceful and productive.
I come to the close of it, grateful and satisfied.
Psalm 91...A song of salvation
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High,
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust."
For He will deliver me from the snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with His pinions,
and under His wings you will find refuge:
His faithfulness is a shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of the might
or the arrow that flies by day,
the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only look with your eyes
and see the recompense of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place-
the Most High, who is my refuge-
no evil shall be allowed to befall you,
no plague come near your tent.
For he will command His angels concerning you,
To guard you in all your ways.
On their hands, they will bear you up,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread upon the lion and the adder,
the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.
"Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him.
I will protect him because he knows my name.
when he calls to me, I will answer him.
I will be with him in trouble.
I will rescue him and honour him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation"
This is one of the most well known and highly prized psalms written! The words scribed above have ministered life countless times over to those who have turned to the Lord and entrusted themselves to His goodness, faithfulness and attentiveness.
I started this post with the mention of feeling satisfied and grateful. The salvation of our Lord, brings satisfaction ( and everything else listed above is available for the believing heart, too)
Repeatedly, God's word tells us that those who put their hope in the Lord, shall not be ashamed. Here is a helpful place to find some of those scriptures! Cross Reference- more food to mull over, ponder and meditate and have it sink DEEP into your heart and mind, bringing renewal.
Ps 91 finishes with the sense that God's salvation brings satisfaction. Breathe that contentment in!
I recommend another slow read- out loud.
Goodnight!
